Abstract

The formation of an inclusion complex of hypoglycaemic drug, glipizide with β-cyclodextrin has been
investigated by cyclic, differential pulse voltammetry and UV-vis spectrophotometry. The formation
constants of the complex were determined using differential pulse voltammetry and UV-vis
spectrophotometry, respectively. For comparative purpose, we have also applied phase solubility study
with spectrophotometric detection obtaining formation constant value of 620 M-1
. The phase solubility
profile was classified as AL–type, indicating the formation of 1:1 stoichiometric inclusion complex of
glipizide with β-cyclodextrin.
